SUNRISE EMERGENCY MEDICINE

MCI Drill

Each year, our residents take part in a large-scale Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) simulation that brings together multiple EMS agencies, first responders, and more than 100 volunteer patient actors from across the Las Vegas community.

The exercise recreates the chaos, complexity, and rapid decision-making required during a real disaster event, with simulated patients transported directly to MountainView Hospital for evaluation and treatment. Residents lead the emergency department response alongside faculty, nurses, EMS crews, and hospital staff, gaining hands-on experience in triage, resuscitation, communication, and disaster management in a high-pressure environment.

The event has become one of the signature educational experiences within our program and reflects our commitment to immersive, real-world training. For a closer look at the drill, explore our highlight video and photo gallery showcasing the scale and intensity of the experience.
